Connecting STEM to the Real-World

Pittsburgh has been in the news lately due to the collapse of the bridge in Frick Park, which also happened the same day that the President was visiting the area to discuss infrastructure. Unfortunately, there was a Port Authority bridge on the bus when it collapsed. Luckily, no one was seriously hurt. This image has no become somewhat iconic in our region.

That is the bus being removed from the wreckage of the collapsed bridge. What an engineering feat - the removal of that bus. That then got me thinking, this could be a great activity with VEX. One of more popular VEX GO challenges is rescue the astronaut:

@Jessica_Drayer @Anna_Blake This can be adapted to removing the bus. Also, it can become a motorized activity with either IQ or V5. @Omar_Cortez @Mark_Johnston This seems something right up your alley.

Just wanted to share a fun idea for a lesson. I hope someone finds it useful. Thanks!
