GPS Sensor

My teams just received their GPS Sensors… they came with a USB cable and we are curious what they are for. The Vision Sensor requires you to set it up via USB but we don’t see anything like that in VEXCode for setting up the GPS. Anyway, if anyone knows what it’s for, please let me know.

The primary purpose of the USB cable is for the VEX AI Competition to connect the GPS to the Stereo AI Camera (yet to be released).

The Stereo AI Camera will get the location directly from the GPS via USB in order to reduce latency in the system (as opposed to having to pass the data through the V5 Brain).

You can also use the USB cable to mount your GPS Sensor as a webcam when you connect it to a Mac or PC so you can troubleshoot visually - however, the V5 Brain’s “Devices” interface can show the image from the GPS sensor as well to help with troubleshooting directly on your robot.

Hope this helps!
