Thanksgiving Day Vex Go Parade

We started the Mars Buggy Lab last week. Instead of making the buggy, I had my students use the wheel and axle (shaft) to create a moving platform. I worked with our librarian to read and discuss the book, Balloons Over Broadway. We showed short clips of last years parade and discussed the difference between floats and balloons. We also talked about the types of characters/topics we see in the parade each year. I challenged them to make a float, that included “Jo” for our “Classroom Thanksgiving Day Parade”. After completing their floats, we showed students a few short clips of the commentators at the parade and talked about their job. We then challenged each group to write a commentary to read during our “Parade”. Below is a link to the video of what they came up with.

These are great and the giant astronaut Jo is absolutely brilliant! About 2:30 in the video for anyone that wants to take a look.

Terrific stuff. And agreed, the Col Jo float is terrific.

@Tina_Dietrich that is phenomenal! And thanks for calling out the giant Jo - AMAZING!
